The BC Spitfires Hockey Club is a non-profit, professionally administered & coached organization. Everything we do is focused on creating positive experiences for players & parents. We are based in Kamloops BC, however we have strong ties and focus on programming designed for out-of-town players & families.
Shane Kozoriz is the BC Spitfires Director of Operations & Head Coach of the BC Spitfire Teams. Shane has 10 years of head coaching experience with KMHA, Kamloops Wolves, Jr Blazers and BC Spitfires organizations. For the 2023/24 minor hockey season, Shane is the U15 Female Assistant Coach led by ex-NHL player Steve Gainey. This team placed in all tournaments they entered, won their home tournament and League Playoff Championship. Shane was the Kamloops U11 Development A team Head Coach and the Assistant Coach for the U13 Female team for the 2022/23 season and was KMHA Coach of the year in 2018/2019. Shane is certified, positive, and passionate. Shane is also a professional engineer and holds 3 degrees; a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, a Masters in Project Management from the University of Victoria and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
Shane states, "The BC Spitfires are all about Positively Charged Hockey! We will provide the level of service, transparency, organization and programming that families & players deserve to maximize the enjoyment for everyone involved in the game we love. These players will only be this age once in their lifetime, we must make every effort to make the experience the very best it can be with everything that is Spitfires."
The coaching philosophy for the Spitfires is a players first approach. This means that every player will have success as an individual and as a team. We will always have a positive attitude. Attitude is a small thing that can make a big difference. We will take the setbacks, mistakes, the negative feelings and harness that to change future outcomes for the better. We know that giving our best effort always makes the practice or game the most fun it can be. While we will be disciplined and structured, we will be having fun doing it and strive for positively charged hockey with positive experiences for everyone involved; players, coaches and families.
